Orthopaedic is the branch of surgery that deals with the prevention or correction of injuries or disorders of the skeletal system and associated muscles, joints and ligaments. Some of the procedures performed by an Orthopaedic Surgeon are knee arthroscopy, knee/hip replacement, repair of fractures, lumbar spinal/sacroiliac joint fusion, etc.
Orthopaedic Surgeons are also responsible for performing surgery on trauma victims who may have sustained injuries to the neck, chest, abdomen, extremities and soft tissue, as well as injuries to the vasculature.
