Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) Accreditation

Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) Accreditation
Sunway Medical Centre Velocity is recognised under the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), a global programme led by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF to promote optimal care for mothers and newborns.
This accreditation reflects our commitment to supporting breastfeeding, early mother–baby bonding, and evidence-based maternity care practices.
To achieve BFHI accreditation, hospitals must implement the “Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding”, including staff training, patient education, immediate skin-to-skin contact after birth, and continuous breastfeeding support. Facilities are assessed through a structured evaluation process to ensure these standards are consistently maintained.
For patients, this means receiving guided breastfeeding support, a supportive environment for mother–baby bonding, and care aligned with internationally recognised maternity practices, providing confidence and reassurance throughout the childbirth journey.
Accreditation period: 5 March 2026 – 4 March 2028
